Dani Babcock
Account Manager, Allied Universal
Marine Corps.
Marine Corps veteran Dani McLand joined Allied Universal in November 2018 and currently serves as Account Manager for Amazon.
“I decided to join the Marines due to the vast benefits the military provides as well as the global travel and training opportunities,” said Dani.
After boot camp on Paris Island in South Carolina, Dani went to North Carolina for combat training. Once she completed training, she went to Fort Lee, Virginia to attend school to become a small arms tech. Dani served as a small arms technician for her first four years, which included expertise for the 9mm pistol, all the way to the 80mm mortar. After school, Dani was stationed in Okinawa, Japan which she considered the highlight of her enlistment.
Dani, who served for five years, is proud that she was promoted to Sergeant and received her second Navy Achievement Medal for saving her duty station time and money.
“I was truly honored to have been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal twice for going above and beyond my job duties,” says Dani. “I was also awarded the Good Conduct medal for achieving an outstanding record of professionalism during my time in the Marines, and was awarded an Overseas Medal for being stationed in Japan for the two years.”
After the Marines, Dani was a bit surprised about the differences working in the civilian workplace compared to the military.
“When I returned to the civilian workplace after serving in the military, I truly forgot how relaxed many of the regulations are mainly because I just came from such strict rules,” said Dani.
Dani cites the military as an influential factor with her career at Allied Universal.
“I believe having served makes me a better leader,” says Dani. “I feel going from the military to Allied was a great choice as the skills I learned in the military have helped me stay vigilant while on duty.”
Dani’s favorite part of working at Allied Universal is the opportunity to move up the career ladder.
“There seems to always be room for promotions as the company continues to grow nationally and internationally,” says Dani. “I was most proud when I was promoted to my current position right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Definitely hard work pays off.”
