Glenn Timmon’s job description says he is a Field Training Officer, but in reality he functions more like a social worker, a therapist and a father. Glenn has been at Children's Health for 31 years and has impacted the lives of patients, families, celebrities and coworkers, and he does it all with integrity, heart, emotional intelligence and an impeccable ability to communicate with anyone at any level. Children’s Health is a place where sick children are often brought through our doors by worried parents. Emotions run high. In any given day there are disturbances, disagreements and emotional outbursts. And when calls come in to security dispatch, they don’t just say “Send Security,” they say, “Send Glenn.” They know he will dispel any situation. His job takes him to every corner of Children’s Health, and wherever he goes, people call him by name. More importantly, he calls them by name, too. Glenn’s passion is to leave a lasting legacy. To that end, he gives the same care to new employees that he gives to families and visitors. This isn’t a requirement of his job, but he goes above and beyond no matter the task. Because of WHO he is, his legacy will endure for years to come in the many lives he has touched. Because of his sterling character, Glenn was invited to be part of the team designed to define our organization’s core values, identifying behavioral expectations and develop the action plan to implement throughout the system. It is rare to say that an employee is irreplaceable. Many people do a job; few achieve mastery. Glenn has taken a job and made it into a work of art, a calling, a gift. His unique combination of mind and heart is not something we take for granted. We, as coworkers, are honored by his presence and uplifted every day by his investment in our lives.
